The work’s open, modular structure allows each page of music to be combined in varied ways. In this 60-minute interpretation, Alarm Will Sound follows the cycle of a day, starting with bird songs heard in the morning, then afternoon, evening, night, and returning to morning. The musicians will use space by moving around the venue as they play, and encourage the audience to walk around to experience the music from many perspectives.
