Presented by Eastman Presents, as part of Meliora Weekend
October 2, 8:00 PM — Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, Rochester
“One of the most vital and original ensembles on the American music scene.” — The New York Times
About the Program
Alarm Will Sound comes home. Founded at the Eastman School of Music 25 years ago, the ensemble returns to Rochester for Meliora Weekend—now as winner of the 2026 GRAMMY Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance—for a celebratory homecoming at Kodak Hall.
The program is New Acoustica, the ensemble’s genre-dissolving take on electronic music performed live on acoustic instruments. Extending the vision of their acclaimed Acoustica album, Alarm Will Sound reimagines the work of Aphex Twin, Jlin, King Britt, Marcos Balter, SOPHIE, Tim Exile, and Lucrecia Dalt—music born in the studio, brought to the concert stage in a way you’ve never heard it before.
A highlight of the evening is a new work by Squarepusher: K7 Museum, from the electronic pioneer’s chamber-orchestral album Kammerkonzert (Warp Records). Conceived as Squarepusher’s first venture into orchestral writing, it’s a natural fit for Alarm Will Sound—hurtling, intricate, and unpredictable, translated from the studio into living, breathing players
