MICF Resident Composers 2018

Congratulations to the 8 composers selected to work with Alarm Will Sound, Chen Yi, and Alex Mincek at the 2018 Mizzou International Composers Festival. The festival will be held July 23 to 28 in Columbia, MO and is presented by the Mizzou New Music Initiative and the University of Missouri School of Music.

From the MNMI website: “The resident composers are chosen through a portfolio application process that this year attracted 244 entries from 22 different countries. Applications were received from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.”

Each resident will write a new piece to be premiered by Alarm Will Sound at the festival. They will also take part in rehearsals with AWS, have composition lessons with Chen Yi, and Alex Mincek (guest composers at the festival), and give presentations on their works.
